UNEQUAL EQUAL ROPES

The magician shows three ropes of unequal length. There's a long rope, a medium-length rope and a short rope. Spectators may hand out the ropes for examination. The magician places each rope into his or her hand and holds both ends of each rope. The magician grabs the ends of the ropes in both hands and pulls, and the three different-length ropes turn into three ropes of equal length. At this point, the magician may end the trick or return the ropes to their prior state: long, medium and short.
